Binong tree (Tetrames nudlifora) is "the home" of Sumbawa honey bee, which means that Sumbawa honey bees only makes their honey comb on Binong tree although there are maybe hundreds or even thousands types of trees in Sumbawa tropical forest.
Therefore, without Binong tree, which the numbers are decreasing, Sumbawa honey bee may extinct in the future.
Project on Binong tree cultivation is aimed besides for greening, also to sustain the production of Sumbawa forest honey, which became the pride of Sumbawa people due to protection as "geographical indication" by Directorate General for Intellectual Property Rights, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the Republic of Indonesia.
